My friend, whom I affectionately call The Spanish Woman, is indeed Spanish, but more importantly, she is an equestrian of Dressage affiliation. The Spanish Woman was boarding her Andalusian mare at an English riding stable in Rolla, MO. I hitched a ride with her one day and had a borrowed Canon Rebel in tow. It was one of those magical days when almost every shot was a keeper---including this photo of the horse with all the spots.

The back story…This is “one of those places” that called to me from the road. Each time I would pass this place I would think to myself, Look at all that incredible junk! In the summer of 2006 a large storm cut a swath through the area knocking out power for several days. I was on one of my many trips down south delivering decorated dinnerware to Chanticleer Ceramics  in Ironton, Missouri. I had brought along a borrowed camera. When I stopped to take pictures I noticed the pole the storm had pushed over. As I framed the picture I could not believe the number of symbols; the more I looked the more I noticed. Funny thing, when I passed by two weeks later with more pottery, the pole had been removed.
